The Cabinet

The Cabinet’s role is to advise the President on any subject he or she may require relating to the duties of each member’s respective office. The Cabinet’s membership varies between administrations, but usually consists of the 15 heads of the Executive Departments (Secretaries of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, Interior, Labor, State, Transportation, Treasury, and Veterans Affairs), the Attorney General, and other key ranking officials in the White House.

Executive Office of the President

The EOP exists simply to provide the President with the support he or she needs to govern effectively. The EOP contains over a dozen offices within the Executive Branch that coordinate various agenda goals.
